This guide will walk you through setting up GrabIt to work with Giganews servers. If you haven't already signed up for Usenet access then definitely give Giganews a try. Download GrabIt
Visit the GrabIt newsreader homepage (Shemes.com) to download the latest version of the client.
Install GrabIt
The installation is simple. Choose a folder for the program to install and whether or not you want desktop or quick launch icons.
Configure GrabIt for Giganews
The first time you open GrabIt the configuration wizard appears.

Enter news.giganews.com into the News (NNTP) server field, check the box and click Next.

Enter the login information you received in the signup email from Giganews into the Username and Password fields and click Next.
Once GrabIt opens you can define the rest of the server setup. To do so right click Default server and then click Server properties:

Now you can enter in the server information in the screen below:

The server properties screen includes everything you need to get up and running. Simply enter the information as follows:
- Hostname: news.giganews.com
- Port: 119 (non-secure) or 563 (secure)
- Account name and Password: provided in email
- Check "Encrypted server connection (SSL)" for secure access.
- Max Connections: up to 10 or 20 depending on Giganews account.
- Note: maximize GrabIt download speed by using all your connections.
- click OK
