BinTube Setup Guide for Power Usenet

This guide will walk you through setting up BinTube to work with PowerUsenet news servers. If you haven't already signed up for Usenet access then consider Power Usenet. They offer 1,350 days of binary retention, SSL encryption and up to 30 connections. Power Usenet offers a 5 day, 10 GB free trial so if you haven't signed up for Usenet access this is a great chance to get started.

Download BinTube

Visit the BinTube newsreader homepage (BinTube.com) to download the latest version of the client.

Install BinTube

The installation is simple. Choose a folder for the program to install and whether or not you want desktop or quick launch icons.

Configure BinTube for Power Usenet

Once BinTube is launched you can define the news server setup. To do so click on Options → Server Settings

Now you can enter in the server information in the screen below:

The server properties screen includes everything you need to get up and running. Simply enter the information as follows:
A - Server Address: news.powerusenet.com
B - Port: use port 563 or 443 for secure or port 119, 23 or 80 for standard connections.
C - Connections: Power Usenet supports up to 30 connections.
D - Check "Use SSL Encryption" for secure access.
E - Check "Server Requires Login"
F - Enter Username provided in email
G - Enter Password provided in email
