What is a .SFV file? If you have ever logged onto the binary groups, you sometimes see files with an extension of .SFV follow the PAR2, RAR, and NFO files of a file set. Like a Par2 they can check the integrity of a file that is posted on Usenet. SFV files use CRC checks to verify the file. However, using an SFV file to verify the file is much faster than checking each RAR part with a par2 for corruption.

QuickSFV is a handy little program that helps check the integrity of a file. You can download it here. Make sure to select the correct version with your operating system. QuickSFV is free however NGR always recommends buying or donating to the developers that work hard to create and keep these tools updated. This useful piece of software can save you a lot of time so chipping in a few bucks for hours saved in the future would surely be appreciated by the creators of QuickSFV. Instructions on how to donate can be found on their site.
