Verizon Discontinues Newsgroups

Verizon has made the decision to discontinue internal newsgroup access to all .alt newsgroups. This will affect all Verizon customers currently using their newsgroup servers.

Verizon has confirmed they will not block connections to third party Usenet providers. Not that they could with so many services offering alternate ports.

In light of Verizon's decision (along with a couple other large ISP's) a number of premium Usenet providers are offering additional specials and free trials.
