This guide will walk you through setting up Agent to work with Giganews servers. If you haven't already signed up for Usenet access then definitely give Giganews a try. Download Agent
Visit the Forte Agent newsreader homepage (Forteinc.com) to download the latest version of the client.
Install Forte
The installation is simple. Choose a folder for the program to install and whether or not you want desktop or quick launch icons.
Configure Agent for Giganews
The first time you open Agent the setup wizard appears.

Enter the following information:
- News Server: news.giganews.com
- Port: 119 (non-secure) or 563 (secure)
- Check "This server requires SSL" for secure access
- Username and Password: provided in email
- click Next
Next we will go in and choose the remaining server options. To do so click on Tools → Servers and Accounts

Now you can enter in the server information in the screen below:

The server properties screen includes everything you need to get up and running. Simply click on Giganews to the left and enter the information as follows noting that some is already populated from earlier:
- Host Name: news.giganews.com
- Username and Password: provided in email
- Max Connections: up to 10 or 20 depending on Giganews account.
- click Advanced Settings

Here you can change the port (optional):
- You can use port 563 or 443 for secure connections or port 119, 80 or 23 for standard connections.
- click OK
