Newznab

We’ve reviewed just about every Usenet search and NZB site out there. Including several who were once popular and no longer exist like Merlins Portal and Newzleech. Today though we’re taking a look at Newznab. An open-source platform you can use to build your own Usenet index. From there you can use it for personal use, set up a private index site or even run a publicly open site. Regardless Newznab will get you started.

Why use Newznab? First of all it will save you a ton of time. You can look at other sites that use the technology and decide from there. We’ll list a few for you to reference in a moment. Keep in mind that many are private (require registration) or closed to new members.

Using a Newznab site is much like other Usenet search engines. You type in the topic of interest and find the newsgroup content that best meets your criteria. You can look for content by type and even setup RSS feeds. Newznab offers documentation to learn more.
